Qualifying as a tester
We’ve introduced some big changes MOT training this year. These new changes will modernise MOT training and help make sure that your training is making a real contribution to road and vehicle safety.
You can now read and comment on the draft national occupational standards for the roles of MOT testers and authorised examiners (AEs) on the Sector Skills website.
The Sector Skills Council for the automotive retail industry and DVSA’s MOT Training Education and Skills Support (MTESS) team are developing National Occupational Standards. They met last month at venues in England, Scotland and Wales with representatives from the MOT trade to discuss specific skills and knowledge for MOT testers, AEs and site managers.
DVSA’s MOT Training, Education and Skills Support (MTESS) team is currently developing nationally recognised qualifications that will professionalise the role of MOT testers and AEs (Authorised Examiners). The aim is to modernise the way in which MOT tester and AE training is carried out, to better meet the needs of our customers.
