We‘ve had many questions on this subject, particularly in relation to batteries. Previous articles give guidance that a battery would not be deemed insecure unless it is likely to fall from vehicle under normal use. So how do we arrive at this conclusion?

Yes. Section 2.6 - Rear Suspension and Wheel Bearings applies to all vehicles other than those with a Design Gross Weight (DGW) of more than 5000kg. As the threshold for Class 5L is 5000kg, the rear axle of these vehicles must be jacked in order to assess the rear wheel bearings and more easily examine other testable items.
The battery must be so insecure such that it is unrestrained and likely to fall from its vertical position when the vehicle is in its presented condition (i.e. bonnet / access panels closed).
